With the high-speed developing of modernization of national defence, high-quality military training is becoming much more important for further national construction. Nowadays, High-tech weapon has made military training encounter some bottlenecks ,for example, training cost is getting higher, military personnel has to spend more time to be familiar with new weapon. The situation can be efficiently resolved by technique like virtual reality (VR), virtual battle scene. This new technique is also helpful in guaranteeing the security and efficiency of military training. With the developing of computer hardware, especially the graphical processing unit, ocean simulation gets more power to move on. graphical processing unit is good at parallel computation and float point computation, which makes stimulated ocean more exquisite and can support more complicated computation.Based on the national defence research project, a training project based on the virtual ocean environment was developed in this paper, aiming at the research of simulation of virtual ocean environment.Many wave modeling methods were comprehensively discussed, comparing their differences. For the special requirement, the wave spectrum model was adopted. With the help of fast flourier transform, height data can be got. After that, both the height and position data was optimized and rendering details also was adjusted.With virtual wave background and the initialized project, some key technique on how to implement self-defined path of model navigation was discussed and special effects like snow and rain was added to the virtual scene.Lastly, the developing environment, system interface design, the organization of the system models, the testing result and the processing graph were discussed and given.On the CPU-GPU platform, this paper has primarily implemented the simulation of ocean environment of virtual battle field, with the required wave model. The discussed project is now qualified for basic training, which provides a high-reality, high-quality training platform for users, and makes the solid foundation for the next development and spread.
