Mobile communication technology has brought high-speed CDMA2000 1X wireless data transmission service to people at the present. CDMA2000 1X is a new-type service on data communication, which combines organically the mobile communication technology with IP technology and builds up IP moving network. It is able to realize the seamless link with IP network which has developed greatly, and provides such services of the multimedia as data, voice and image in the form of groups exchange to the consumers. Consequently it brings about the technology revolution on research of the embedded system for wireless access, and the wireless monitoring system is a kind of products that the transmission technology of the wireless data develops into a certain stage, which provides a great convenience to people for long-distance monitoring. The appearance of CDMA2000 1X data service offers a new kind of wireless data transmission for the wireless monitoring system. It provides a better wireless transmission of data service with characters of crossing region, high speed, and large capacity and high real-time instead of traditional wireless transmission means with the fault of short distance, small capacity and low real-time.This paper presents an embedded system for Wireless Monitoring which is built with VxWorks embedded real-time operating system and ARM RISC processor. The system is designed to dial to CDMA2000 1X data service network automatically, to build wireless links, to obtain IP dynamically and to send the real-time monitoring images with TCP/IP protocol with the preset parameters to the control center which owns a secure IP. And the key technologies are discussed and tested, with which the hardware-dependent software in the lower layer and application software in the upper layer of this system are implemented. The system passes the tests successfully.
