R&D Of Technology In Performance Data Collection In 3G Network Management System

Being a critical component of mobile network construction, mobile NMS(network management system)is a hot research in network construction. With the development of 3G businesses and the increase of the complexity of network, we face the challenge for improving the mobile NMS. However, restricted by the protocol and interface of network management, the implementation of NMS has been under the development by now. This paper introduces a mobile network management system, SINM, that can improve to some extent the implementation of the protocol and interface of network management.PM (Performance Management) is one of the five basic management functions of TMN. PM in 3G INMS (integrated network management system) plays the role of inspecting and analyzing local network. INMS may first collect all kinds of performance data from network elements, and then generate performance report by dealing with these data. All operations in PM are built on the basis of data collection, which is the key step in PM. The basic and important work in PM is how to assure the correctness and completeness of performance data collection.The main contributions of this paper are listed as follows.(1) This paper applies CORBA to SINM, and presents the PM architecture based on CORBA.(2) According to 3GPP PM Solution Set, this paper proposes a method based on measured job. This method first needs that NMS sends the job information to NE automatically by creating a measured job successfully. Then, NE reports the result data to NMS according to the job information. At last, NMS deals with the result data from NE. Therefore, the method can assure the correctness of performance data collection.(3) This paper proposes another method based all data report to improve the method based on measured job. This method is different from the one above; NE reports all result data to NMS by FTP. It not only overcomes disadvantages of the method based on job, but also assures to some extent the completeness of performance data collection.(4) This paper implements the performance management in detail and presents a new method of performance data collection.
