The Design And Implementation Of Data Collection Module Of Synthetic Network Management System Based On SNMP

This thesis is from the project of the Network Management System, which equipped in the New Tracking Ship's Communication Network System. Its main task is to provide a platform for the network administrators to monitor and control the network and the communication devices.As the communication network is made of different specialty systems, none of the current network management models, such as the centralized model, the hierarchy model or the distributed model, can satisfy the requirement of the Network Management System. Based on the analysis of those models, a new model, which combines with their advantages, is given in this paper.The Data Collection Module is the base of a Network Management System. The data, which used in the configuration management, faculty management, performance management, account management or security management, are all from the Data Collection Module. In order to design an efficient and steady module for the Network Management System, the multithreading technology is adopted. During the process of collecting, the managed objects with different attributes are collected by the Data Collection Module in a different way.The Network Topology Discovery is based on the topology information, which collected by the Data Collection Module. A fast and complete network topology discovery algorithm plays an important part in the Network Management System. Based on the analysis of three current algorithms, an improved one is given in this paper. It is proved that this algorithm be effective to discover the structure of network, the subnets in the network, and the hosts in the subnet.
