The rapid development of Internet has posed a challenge to the traditional distributed computing technology. In order to make application programs interoperable and to realize the integration of heterogenous systems, Web Services come into being. Web Services make use of a series of open protocals and standards, and thus solve the problem of interoperability of softwares on different platforms and implemented by different languages. Mobile Agent, which combines Agent and distributed computing technology, can reduce the network bandwidth and moderate the effects of high latency with its ability to migrate from one host to another and interact with resources locally. The goal of this paper is to make Web Services more flexible and efficient by combinting Mobile Agent and Web Services. In this paper, a Mobile Agent Platform based Web Services model named Magenice is presented. It brings Mobile Agent technology into Web Services by adding a layer of SOAP-based Mobile Agent platform on the basis of existing Web Services architecture and technical standards. Accoding to the requirement of MAgenice model in the Mobile Agent's migration, communication and interaction with Web Services, a Mobile Agent prototype system is implemented. The particulars of this prototype system are described and an example of distributed data accessing based on MAgent system is described which demostrates the feasibility of MAgenice model.
