Modern VTS mainly collects ship information by means of radar,VHF transmission and CCTV,it also adopts technology such as AIS, ECDIS and GPS.By switching from specialized VTS transmission sub-system to existing public data network,modern VTS can realize the transmission of VTS dynamic data within a zone or between zones.The technology of multi-media and big screens are adopted to achieve the integrated display and recording of radar target pictures,transportation data,tracking data,environmental data and other data. With the development of computer network,the integrated application of VTS information also develops accordingly.VTS can provide integrated traffic pictures and data in a water area not only for vessels but also for other relevant departments.The application of the above new technology facilitates the development of VTS and broadens the functions and application of VTS.The document describes the LianYunGang VTS system enhancement according to VTS system function application requirement,making full use of computer network,multi-media,information management technology to carry out extend and perfect of system equipment functions for VTS integrated system information display,vessel navigational safety monitor,vessel information management and CCTV site monitoring.That will assure that VTS reformed system not only provides integrated information display of vessel voyage activities,meteorological/hydrographic and AIS information,monitor the vessel sailing safety and provide alarm in advance of any possible dangerous situation,it also makes use of MSA information resources to manage vessel files,voyage information,planning information and important vessel monitoring/tracking data,which will improve the VTS system's function as information center.In addition,the ability to transmit the CCTV pictures in vessel traffic scene to VTS center in time for purpose of critical management of vessel traffic,strengthens the VTS system's function as the search and rescue center.However,the above-mentioned research and design concept of the VTS system function is not only based on the LianYunGang VTS system equipment,but also applicable to other harbor's VTS system function extend and perfect.
