Telecommunication Operation Support System

Operation Support System (OSS) has been a necessary part of telecom operation management cycle. Telecom network and business are managed based on IT technology and OSS supports and improves telecom operation. Four telecom operators recognize OSS' value gradually and invest more in OSS construction year-by-year.The paper is based on an OSS project in a mobile operator, and the implementation of OSS will help the operator to reduce OPEX and CAPEX, at the same time, operator can improve productivity and comfort of client. The author participated in the billing system, and the paper mainly describes research and implementation of the billing system.The paper gives a brief introduction and theory of OSS in the chapter 1. Chapter 2 describes the system network, business configuration and network structure of a mobile company, finds the problems need to be done through analysis of company states. Chapter 3 provides strategy of this project according to the needs of operator. Chapter 4 describes whole system in details, especially in mainframe, network, database and application system. Chapter 5 describes system functions and chapter 6 describes billing system in details. Finally, the problems requiring further studied are discussed.
