Research And Design Of Embedded System For Portable Terminal Based On ARM

With the rapid development of embedded system technology, especially the great improvement about the processing capacity of embedded microprocessors and the abroad applications of embedded operating system, the research on embedded systems has been regarded as a new direction after traditional PC time.Based on the consideration above, the research is focused on an ARM-based embedded portable terminal system, in which the method of hardware/software codesign for embedded system are employed, in order to realize an application sample of embedded terminal system.For the content of this paper, a whole programming is firstly made on an embedded terminal system, and based on which, an embedded terminal system about the hardware and software platform is decided. With regarded to the selected hardware platform of XSBased255 evaluation board, a GSM communication module is developed for extending its function, and its start process with BootLoader is deeply analyzed as well. Secondly, a cross compiling environment of the kernel Linux 2.6.10 is built, so as to realize the configuration and transplant among embedded Linux operating system, Jffs2 file system, typical embedded Linux device deriver, and embedded Qt graph system. Finally, the model of information exchange on an embedded platform, and its detailed process of design and realization are both introduced. Through the process of transplant and extending of embedded SQLite database among hardware and software platform, as well as resolving user's requested formatting information, the short message exchange service and data upload management are both implemented, which realizes an application-oriented system. The completed information exchange platform with an embedded system combines embedded technology and common communication network, which makes its embedded terminal be able to interlink the server utilizing wireless network interface, as well as to be built on the computer network and mobile communication network. Therefore, some problems such as the distributed information exchange are solved, which accords with the current trend of digital information service.
