The class-E power amplifier is simple in structure. It has a high efficient and good RF performance. After first introduced in 1975, it was widely applied in different fields, such as wireless communication, switching power supply, wireless power transmission, high frequency electric process heating, and etc. Although the application of class-E amplifier is quite mature in engineering, its basic theory is still growing in order to solve the difficulties encountered in some application fields.Refering to the proposed theories of class-E amplifier, three new theories on class-E analysis are presented from the view of steady waveform analysis. These three analyses are called the Three Models Analysis of Class-E Amplifier in general. In the Tuned State Descriptive Model, firstly, basing on the waveform analysis of ideal class-E amplifier, an important relationship between the driving duty cycle and the characteristic currents ratio is derived. The waveforms descriptive equations of characteristic voltages and currents and the load network of class-E amplifier are studied. Accordingly, a parameters design methodology using steady state analysis of ideal class-E amplifier is proposed. In addition to the Tuned State Descriptive Model, the Untuned State Descriptive Model introduces a parameter to represent the phase shift, so as to explaint the relationship between driving duty cycle and characteristic currents ratio in more generalized untuned state. Saturated resistance of the switching devices is considered in the waveform analysis. Untuned characteristic waveform descriptive equations are presented by combining the parameters relationships and untuned waveform analysis. The Extended Impedance Descriptive Model has simplified the...
