In the modern civilian and military electronic equipments and systems, power amplifiersplay a very important role. Improve the output power of the amplifier is critical in order toimprove communication quality and performance of military electronic equipment, powercombining technology has also become one of the main research directions.Amplifier technology and power combining technology are studied in the thesis. Withexisting technology a high-performance Ku-band power amplifier link system is developed.This thesis including the power amplifier basic theory, power combining technologyintroduction and power amplifier link design and test.1. With NE3511S02FET, Stability technology, highest gain impedance matchingtechnology and cascade circuit technology, the paper develops a Ku band high gain amplifier.Detailed analysis is done about SMD components and amplifier cavity. The simulation andtest results show that the high gain amplifier has good input and output reflection coefficientsduring14GHz~14.5GHz, a gain above31dB, Gain variation less than0.3dB,1dBcompression point output power above9dBm, meet targets.2. The thesis develops a Ku band driver amplifier With HMC490chip. By fully considerthe impact of micro-assembly for circuit performance, the deterioration of chip index by thecircuit assembly is reduced. The simulation and test results show that, during14GHz~14.5GHz its1dB compression point output power above26dBm, its gain above24dBwith good input and output reflection coefficients.3. The thesis develops a Ku band power amplifier With HMC516chip andwaveguide-microstrip converter structure. The amplifier has waveguide I/O styles Thesimulation and test results show that, during14GHz~14.5GHz its point output power above16dBm, its gain above18dB with good input and output reflection coefficients.4. Develops two-way and four-way Waveguide power combiner/divider with WaveguideE-plane directional coupler by compare the merits of three-port splitter and four-port coupler.The two-way combiner test result show that, during14GHz~14.5GHz its input and outputreflection coefficients are below-16dB, and insertion loss below0.4dB. The isolationbetween output ports is greater than22dB, insertion loss is slightly larger than requirements.5. In the last a Ku band power combining amplifier is developed based on the two-waypower combiner/divider. The power combining amplifier’s test results show that during 14GHz~14.5GHz, it has a gain above18dB, output power above18.4dBm, and combiningefficiency above84.5%with the highest efficiency87%at14.4GHz, slightly lower than thesubject’s requirement(85%).
