As one of the most important typical application of internet, E-learning has been recognized as a basic way to build the national system of continuing education and lifelong learning. Along with the opening of the first national demonstration network-CERNET2 of CNGI(China Next Generation Internet), the public communications platform for E-learning which is one of the major typical applications of CNGI was put on the agenda. As an important component of the platform, multimedia real-time education charges with the tasks of improving and expanding the scale of education, with more efficient generation and use of teaching resources and other important tasks.Existing real-time multimedia education in E-learning application share the following problems: singleness, low quality and low efficiency in sharing and interactive modes of education contents; cumbersome release and ineffective copyright protection of multimedia courseware; knowledge points index of multimedia education content could not be generated automatically, singleness and low efficiency of retrieval means which are not suitable for E-learning characteristics.
