In steel industry, the modeling and control of strip heating furnace have great importance for product quality improvement, energy consumption reduction and safe production. However, the heating procedure is accompanied with complicated physical and chemical change, and is non-linear. These characters limit the application of traditional control theory that based on physical mathematical models. Fuzzy logic control can solve the problem of modeling and control without physical mathematical models. This is a big advantage while dealing with the modeling and control problem of strip heating furnace. The fuzzy logic control is base on linguistic fuzzy rules that simulate the logical thinking and judging of human. It is relatively easy to explain and understand for human.
