The paper introduces the design and development of directional antenna turntable servo system for the communication between the ship with a microstrip antenna and the station with a microwave radio. It is an attempt to make a low-cost turntable servo system apply to civil field, and it also provides a basis for the further study and generalization of this kind of production.Based on the relationship between the geographic coordinates of the ship and the radio, the target direction could be ascertained. The quantitative influence caused by the pitching and rolling of the motion ship is analyzed. Thus, the feasibility of single orientation axis turntable structure which is to be used in the servo system could be demonstrated. The scheme of this system, including system composition and working process, is depicted. According to the antenna communication requirement and the system burden, the text describes the selecting type of the components. Controlled objects are analyzed, their mathematical model is established. Based on the model, a Fuzzy-PID control algorithm is adopted. The results of simulating the system show a better tracking performance. Finally, the realization of the system is described in the paper. The compositions and their functions are explained. The design and development processes of the system control module and the servo module are clearly explained,Some key technologies of them are depicted on hardware and software.The system has been primarily tested, the results indicate that the directional antenna turntable servo system generally satisfies the requirement of the communication between the antenna and the radio.
