Continuous phase modulation (CPM), an efficient modulation which developed very quickly in recent years, was researched in this thesis. Compared with other modulations, CPM has gained more and more interest now because of its attractive power efficiency and spectral efficiency. CPM consists of a large family of signals that are especially suitable for wireless communication, and the common characteristics of these signals are their constant amplitude and continuous phase.In this thesis, the common expression of the CPM signals and the formula of its power spectral density (PSD) were introduced at first, based on these, the PSD of the CPM signals was simulated, and the result shows that the spectral properties was influenced by all of the modulation parameters. Then, some demodulation methods were researched, and the performance of these methods was simulated, through the analysis of these simulation result, we can clearly find the relation among the demodulation performance, the modulation parameters and the complexity of a real system. Finally, the detection algorithm of the CPM signal, a very important part of a real communication system, was finished based on a FPGA device.
