Current media streaming systems are often based on the Client/Server framework and IP-level multicasting, which limits clients amount to a great extent and must be supported by ISP. In P2P network, each client receives data and forwards it to others at the same time. Large numbers of clients resource ignored before can be effectively used. The burden on the server will be relieved and the server can provide better quality of service for a great deal of users at the same time. So P2P media streaming technique developed fleetly in recent years.Firstly, the thesis summarized the P2P media streaming techniques. Then, the key techniques of P2P media streaming were studied in detail, which included media compressed technique, application-level multicast techniques, QoS controlled in application-level, media streaming transmission protocol, media synchronization technique and incentive mechanism. The models of application-level multicast techniques in P2P streaming were discussed later, and Zig-Zag model was focused on.The network video education can break through the limit of time and space, so it provides convenience to students largely. The article designed a video education system based on P2P streaming technique, which can provide studying online and watching the education program in real time for students. Then, the basic techniques for implementing the system were discussed deeply. The system was implemented with web pages and the users can use it only with an IE browser and an ActiveX tool. The interface of the system was developed with ASP language and MS SQL Server database. The video compressed with MPEG-4 techniques and the DirectShow technique was used to video collecting, video encoding, video transmission and video decoding. What constructed the P2P network in the system is the Zig-Zag model. Based on this, the system was programmed with software. The article is a good reference literature for the application of P2P media streaming in other fields.
