In fixed broadband wireless access mesh network, every node is capable of supporting service of routing which only communicates with its neighbors and forms a kind of self-organized and administrated network. The network is almost wireless edition of Internet, where one datagram transfers from one path to another path till it reaches destination. Unlike traditional point to multi point mode, mesh network is along with the many advantages such as saving energy, self configuring, easy expanding and etc. The standard IEEE802.16-2004 was approved in April 2004, which supports mesh topologies. This thesis mainly discusses the standard, then the experiments, based on a complicated simulation Mesh network, will be introduced. We research the routing strategies and the interference problem in the inter-cell by using VC6 .0 and Matlab. The thesis firstly introduces the concept of Wireless mesh network, and analyzes its advantages and disadvantages. Secondly we introduces broadband wireless access standard, IEEE802.16-2004,including PHY architecture and MAC specification, emphasis on some specifications about Mesh network in the 802.16-2004 standard.Thirdly, based on the standard IEEE802.16-2004, and refer to RoofTopTM of Nokia company, we present a simulation scenario to study the routing strategies and the interference of inter-cell in Mesh network, and analyze the simulation results. Finally, we summarize full work of the thesis, and propose some techniques which are worth further studying in the relative researching fields.
