As a multiple hops network techology, wireless mesh nework (WMN) has the advantages of high bandwidth, flexible structure, none line-of-sight (NLOS) transmission, robustness and easy deployment, which is different from the traditional wireless local network (WLAN). It has attached great importance and gained rapid development in recent years, becoming a very promising wireless access network technoloy. Wireless mesh network is widely applied in many fields including the emergency scenario, and the network architecture and routing protocol are mainly studied in this paper.Firstly, this paper has described the research background and current state of wireless mesh network, and then put forward the new application in emergency scenario. Through the analysis of network architecture and the IEEE802.11s standard, a new network model is proposed, and the key technologies and existing problems are also summarized. Routing protocol is one of the most key technologies in wireless mesh network, and in this paper the hybird wireless mesh protocol(HWMP) and Ad hoc on-demand distance vector (AODV) routing are focused. The two techologies performance are compared under different network architectures through the theoretical analysis and simulation. The study finds that the end-to-end delay of AODV is very big, and some control messages are badly wasted in the process of the HWMP reactive path search, which has led to the excessive routing overhead and the reduction of network performance. Based on HWMP routing algorithm, this paper has proposed a new improved optimal path search algorithm. The simulation results show that the new algorithm can reduce routing overhead and packet collisions. Also, the nework throughput, packet delivery fraction and end-to-end delay performance are improved accordingly by using the new routing algorithm. Finally, the completed work is summarized and some suggestions are proposed for further research. |
