Along with the rapid development of telecom, increasing usersanddeveloping businessbecome the import income of China Mobile, ChinaUnicom and other telecom service providers. As their business operationsupport system tends larger and more complex, the possibilityof systemfailure and the frequencyof consumer complaints increase. So thelong-term stabilityof the system becomesthe major issue that telecomfaces. In March 2005,China Mobilefirst proposed building NMS (thenetwork monitor system) to monitorall keys of operations, to standardizethe management of IT, to confirm the long-term stabilityof the businessoperation support system. The main work of this thesis isfocused on the research and design ofNMS.We will bring forward the whole scheme on the basis of requirementanalysis, and then design software and hardware platforms in detail. At thesame time, we will give the detailed design of the program features, functionalproperties, data structuresand interface of each sub-module. Atlast, this work will confirm the accuracyand availabilityof data that isdisplayed byNMS through actual tests. This article begins with a background, the status at home and abroad, and the aim of buildingNMS. It also briefsthe mainfunction, and the moreimportant it gives a clear goal of building a network monitor system. Thegoal is to build a unified IT management platform, to realize"centralizedmonitoring, centralized maintaining, centralized management"forplatform managementand application management, and to achieve"malfunction management, performance management, configurationmanagement, security management"eventually.According to the objectives, the article describes the main technology, and defines SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) asthe protocolof data processing. The main technologyof data extraction is OLAP. Therealization of system control and data transfer among multiple modules isthrough COBRA (Common Object Request Broker Architecture). And SVGtechnologyis to displaythe pagesof data and form. Finallythe wholesystem interface has the style of browser byusing DOMAPI that user canlogin and control NMS on web. Then this thesis gives the brief scheme ofNMS design, especiallydefines the outline of the function that includesintegrated monitor, integrated maintenance, integrated management, securitymanagement, application audit, statistical analysis and knowledgebase. The structure of system hasthree logical layers that are datacollection and transferlayer, logical analysis layer, and data showlayer. Itdetails the interface of NMS, data structure, database structure, systemsecurity, data backup and recovery, which becomes the basis of systemdevelopment and particular requirement. At the last of the paper, we givesome instancesthat showthe program characteristics on everykey, function and performance, input and output parameters, data structure, interface definition and algorithm. Now we have a detailed design andinstruct. Later we show the ultimate user interface through displaythe pageof everymodule function. The goal of NMS design is to provide a scheme for the wholefunction outline and the division of logicalmodel, to provide an effectiveinstruct for requirement analysis, system outline, detailed design, development and test, to provide a good foundation for the completion ofdevelopment and being used smoothly. The role and effectiveness of NMS isobvious, along with it being putinto operation in October 2006. The integrated monitormodule creates earlywarnings 60 timesa day, which plays the available role in monitoring thebusinessoperation support system. The integrated maintenance modulerealizes the unified login for background IT manager, and the unified systemmaintenanceformaintainers who break away from a wide varietyofmaintenance systems. The integrated management module sorts the dailywork into incidents, problems, changes and configurations, and thenhandles the work as different procedures in form of electronic lists. Wecancatch standardized and orderlymanagement for dailywork. TheConsolidated statements module can provide Mainframe CPU and memoryresource utilization statementsthat can be used for Optimizing System. Thesecuritymanagement module can manage the role and the authorityof thestaff who login the system, and ensure system security. The applicationaudit module can check the consistencyof data in different keys of thesystems to ensure data accuracy, to guarantee businessincome finally. Theknowledge base can accumulate the experience of day-to-day work, andhelp maintainers improve their capacityfor work, which achieve the purposeof building NMS and demonstrate the availabilityand feasibilityof theprogram.Along with the furtheruse of NMS, itsproblems have graduallyemerged. For example, the ways that monitoritself is not entire, the systemcan not comprehensivelymonitor the entire businessprocess, officeautomation system and logistics management system. Therefore, based onthe above analysis, the goal of the future network monitor system is to buildenterprise-level IT network monitor system that will monitorall of IT systeminvolved in an enterprise, and that will strengthen monitoring one node byone node, and that can analyze user's behavior and provide the basis formarket. In short, the future network monitor system will be graduallydeveloped into enterprise-level IT network monitor system from a singlenetwork monitor system forbusiness operation support system. It willanalyze not onlysystem data, but also userdata. And then, the users will beturned into the staff who manage the enterprise, develop market, andmaintain system from system maintainers. So It will achieve the long-termsystem goal that is"unified platform, unifiedmonitor, unified maintenanceand unified management" of the whole network.
