RFID (the abbreviation of Radio Frequency Identification) is a new technology of non-contact automatic identification. RFID technology spring up in 1980s, and came into the moment of practical application in1990s for the development of VLSI technology. According to wireless communication and Radar technology, the data communication of RFID is via electric field and magnetic field, which is a wireless communication method. So, RFID can be used in multi-targets and floating targets situation.This thesis introduces a project of RFID Reader solution which is based on DSP technology. TMS320VC5402 from TI is used as the core data sampling and processing component. The Reader has an optimal receiver circuit and hardware design, an effective identification arithmetic realized by DSP in time domain. That is the reason why the reader can detect the weak signal in a very strong noise pollution background. The Reader works in the UHF band, and can read the passive tags in the distance of more than 4m.The key of the RFID system design is the Reader hardware design. In the design, the schematic design and PCB design of the RF part is the most important for the final performance of Reader in the total system. As received base band signal is so weak, a very sensitive filter and amplifier need to be used. After the high speed AD sampling, the digital signal is read and processed by DSP. In the software design, how to realize requisite function on the hardware platform better is the key, include the simulation of some interfaces by software, the mixed C/C++ language and assemble language program under the CCS DSP develop system, the design of digital filter by Matlab/Simulink and so on.
