Personal Information Management for Mobility refers to the synchronization of personal information between mobile devices and PIM server. People can backup, access and manage their personal information in the PIM server through PIM services.In recent years, as a new application in mobile areas, PIM attract widespread attention. PIM service for mobile devices is booming at home and abroad. However, most PIM sevices offered by the mobile operator are not perfect. There are many problems in the PIM service and such problems hinder the promotion and usage of PIM.Currently, the main problems in PIM are: The operating systems in the smart devices and PDAs are not totally compatible. PIM services provider must offer different services for different mobile devices or different data format. For the sake of mobily and other considerations, the network bandwidth and hardware resources of mobile devices are limited. This requires PIM services take less resources and offer better services. Windows Mobile devices possess a small amount of market, so there are not PIM services for Windows mobile devices at present.Againt the crrent situation and existing problems of PIM for mobility, this paper discusses various techeniques related to PIM, mainly study and analyze the kernel SyncML data synchronization protocol, put forward the solution of slow-sync and tow-way sync logic based on Windows Mobile platform, implement PIM client based on Windows Mobile. And this paper studies Base64 and MD5 algorithm which guarantee the security of network transmission, implement WBXML encoder and decoder which reduce network data package, save limited network resources and othor resources. In the database layer, we encapsulate TAPI, MAPI, POOM interfaces to facilitate the usage of the protocol layer.PIM is complex, and refers to many areas. This paper discusses only part of the whole PIM system, and we will focus on a more comprehensive, more stable PIM system which fulfills the requirement of users and mobile operator.
