Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is a kind of wireless communication technology, which operates based on electromagnetic coupling. RFID reader which has many advantages, such as speedy identification, excellent confidentiality and no-contact will be applied to Logistics Management, Tracking of Products, Acess Control, management of patients' information and many other areas. A RFID reader complying with ISO 14443A standard was designed, which was able to read the information of Mifare one card in this paper.In the hardware circuit part, AT89S52 microcontroller and RC500 chip is taken as processor, The communication between the PC computer and the reader is maintained through serial port. The antenna circuit was designed with principle of series resonance. In the software part, using structuring program design method, the author has completed the initiallization of AT89S52 microcontroller and RC500 chip. The anti-collision Program code which can identify one card from many cards has be written based on binary search algorithm. In the design of software, the search of card is important, which indicate the communication between reader and card is performing.After making printed circuit and debugging, the experimental device can communicate with the Mifare one card. The reader can identify Mifare one card and change the value of the card through connecting with computer and the farthest distance of reading is about 5cm. It is easy to make second development and can be applied in medical area by adding some in-out device.
