Based on the data analysis of data warehouse technology introduced into chain supermarkets, this paper designs and realizes a data warehouse-based decision support system by using technologies of using technologies of data warehouse, ETL and OLAP. We can take out information to find potential and useful rules and patterns from a great number of management data. These rules and patterns can direct management of enterprise, reduce run costs and increase profits and percents of market.Firstly, the conception of data warehouse is introduced. Secondly, the developing process of the data warehouse of a supermarket is illustrated, including its model construction, the analysis and determination of the subject, dimension, granularity, measure, fact charts and dimensional charts, as well as the extracting, cleaning, transforming and loading of data warehouse data. The data from data warehouse are extracted from various data source. The extracted data need to be cleaned, transformed and loaded to data warehouse, which can be accomplished by ETL tools. Then, it is about the application and development of OLAP. OLAP is a main application based upon data warehouse, which offers a data analysis system. It can exhibit a variety of analysis consequences to customers through the construction of OLAP model, multidimensional data cubes and front port tools. At last, this paper evaluates the established system and summarizes, forecasts the applied technology.
