The Software Research And Development On DVB-T + DVD Set-Top Box Systems

With the digitalization of the TV Broadcasting, DTV(Digital Television) industry has aroused a vast concern all over the world. Many countries have set up their own schemes of the transiton from the Analog TV to Digital TV. DTV STB(Set-Top Box) will be an important product of the DTV industry during the period in which both the Analog TV and the Digital TV exist.The content of the dissertation is divided into three parts.The first part is to develop a STB with the functions of DVD and DVB-T SDTV based on Sunplus solution. The main chip is SPHE8202, which has the functions of system control, audio decoding, MP@ML MPEG video decoding and different audio video output. This part also discusses in general on whole hardware design and software arthitecture.The following two parts mainly focus on the software development of SDTV STB.The second part is to developthe software implemention of OSD diver. OSD is on Screen Display, graphics appearing on top of the video. OSD driver provides a software interface to abstract On Screen Display hardware. Now the effect of OSD is important factor to the market of STB. Firstly, this part discusses the basic principle of OSD, and then focuses on the display of bitmap and characters on STB OSD.The third part is to developthe software implemention of program information management. The digital TV need to save the large numbers of information, so how to improve the efficiency of saving and querying is important factor to market of STB. This part discusses the implemention of the following three facets in this project: parsing of program information, saving and management of the program information database, and the management of program list on user interface menu.
