With the development of electronic technology, the design methods of electronic system are being changed, which makes the traditional method become out of date, and chip design based on EDA technology is turning to be mainstream of electronic system design. FPGA is the most common programmable Application Specific Integrated Circuit now, and electronic engineers use it to design their expected ASIC in their labs, which has shorten Time To Market greatly, and reduced the development costs. Further more, FPGA has characteristics of static reprogramming and dynastic online reconstructing, which makes hardware functions can be modified as well as software programming. By this way, the flexibility and compatibility of electronic system design is enhanced dramatically.In this paper, the logic time sequence of IRFPA image processing system is designed by understanding the principle and application method of FPGA and the design method of VHDL language. The logic time sequence include as followed: the design of IRFPA detectors configuration signals; the signals design of input and output data buffer model; the design of analog video TV signals; the design of digital output interface for the following processing board; the design of signals interfaced to DSP; other enable signals design.In common image processing system, system process synchronicity is attached by using video decoder to derive sync and blank signals from video signals. But because the video signal is non-normal in this system, the innovative point in this paper is that a new sync scheme of IRFPA image processing system is reached by using integrated time as basic signal to satisfy the real time request, and the conflict problem of input and output in the system is resolved by deploying the method of time slot gracefully. Though actual test of the designed FPGA timing sequence in IRFPA image processing system, expected functions have been accomplished, and the performance of IRFPA image processing system has reached the standards of real time, reliability and stability. This paper is a good reference for digital system design with FPGA.
