Information Sharing Research In Battlefield Information System

Information sharing is basis of incorporate joint operations. The traditional battlefield command system is just a separate system that is not satisfying all sharing requirements in modern war. In the background of modern war, the battlefield information needs interlinkage, intercommunication, interoperability. Each chain of command must be capable of interoperability of object level and getting the unified view of the whole battlefield. Building semantic-based grid information sharing platform will achieve the requirement of interlinkage, intercommunication, interoperability.Many papers made mention of the Grid, but there wasn't any clear comment and detail theory about the relation between the Battlefield Information Grid and ontology. The dissertation gives the detail on the theory system and implemental methods about BISP by using the ontology. The research is to discuss the development trend and theory of the semantic integration and interoperability of battlefield information systems and to point out that the semantic-based battlefield information sharing platform (BISP) is the foregone conclusion of the development of the semantic-based integration and interoperability of battlefield information system. The dissertation proposes more perfect theory and technology on the semantic-based integration and interoperability of battlefield Information Systems what is based on ontology and creates the architecture of BISP. The architecture is based on the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) and ontology. The architecture helps the analysis and design on the development for BISP and gives the guideline for details to implement the actual project of BISP. The dissertation digs up the intention of the ontology-based integration and interoperability of the Battlefield Information Systems, and first brings out the constitution of BISP in theory into daylight, and builds its architecture in software.
