A mobile Ad Hoc network (MANET) is a special wireless network that isself-organized by mobile nodes communicating with distributed protocols. The routingprotocols concern the key factor whether Ad Hoc network could run. The research andoptimization of the route protocols in Ad Hoc network in this thesis offer scientificbasis for its application. This thesis introduces the development and research emphases for Ad Hoc mobilenetwork. We introduce not only the contents of the routing protocols, but also the meritsand drawbacks. Research of routing protocols becomes the most important part of thesearch for Ad Hoc. This thesis presents a simulation study of on-demand protocolscompared with the more traditional proactive protocols on a common platform across arange of traffic and mobility scenarios. This simulation covers a range of designchoices: AODV, DSR, DSDV, TORA.Based on analyzing the working progress of DSR and AODV, this thesis evaluatesthese routing protocols and proposes some optimized schema to achieve betterperformance. The simulation results show that the improvement could reduce therouting overhead.
