With the rapid development of computer, communication and building automation technology, the needs for people with living environment have become higher and higher. The smart home, which is safe, convenient, high efficiency and so on, has become the fashion of modern society in the 21st century. However, the development of smart home is not mature, it hasn't formed a uniform technology standard and exploituring platform. Due to the variety and complexity of smart home devices, and new devices ceaselessly come forth, it impendently needs a platform, to manage and control various home devices in focus. This paper combines the embedded operating system and the embedded microprocessor, connecting with subsystems through internal I2C and SPI bus, and expanding with external internet network and telephone network, together composes a smart home control platform which supports ceaselessly upgrading.At first this paper analyses the origin, actuality and developing trend, then gives out the software and hardware design method by using the microcontroller of Philips LPC2106 basing on ARM7TDMI and the embedded operating systemμC/OS. Then mainly introduces the circuit design of the kernel controller LPC2106. Afterward, the hardware and software design of the Entrance Guard and Smoke Alarm subsystems which based on PIC16F73 SingleChip is presented in this paper. The kernel structure and the bootloader ofμC/OS are discussed. The embedded operating system platform is carried out in the kernel controller.Finally, this paper gives out the all-around application examples of embedded operating systemμC/OS in the smart home. The embedded program is realized, together with the cooperation of the subsystems, the common functions such as Entrance Guard, Smoke Alarm and remote communication are carried out. Meanwhile, the smart home control center of the small area is achieved to finish the check-up and watch of home state. It's proved that the application of the embedded operating system not only brings great convenience to the exploiture of smart home, but also affords a good foundation for the later job.
