In order to help students whose major is communication to master professional knowledge better and improve the teaching quality in universities, a series of experiment systems related to communication theories have been designed and developed by National Mobile Communication Research Lab of Southeast University. Such experiment systems apply computer technologies into these communication teaching experiments. It proves to be applicable and useful. The modulation technology, Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM), which is considered as the priority technology in the next generation of mobile communication, becomes one of the hottest research topics in this area now. In order to help students to study this new technology better,this paper designs and develops the OFDM experiment system based on DSP technology. This experiment system includes modulation and demodulation part. In this system, the modulation process will be accomplished by software on the personal computer while the demodulation will be achieved by hardware, whose core system is Digital Signal Processor.There are six chapters in this thesis.The first chapter is the introduction. In this chapter, the development history of the mobile communication is briefly introduced. Then the research outcomes and the tracks of their development on OFDM and DSP are presented. Moreover, the goal,the significance and the main content of this research are clearly demonstrated.In Chapter 2, the basic principle of OFDM system is showed. Firstly, the general feature of the wireless channel is analyzed and the modulation method of OFDM is led into. Then the basic principle and realization by FFT of OFDM system are introduced.In Chapter 3, the whole project of the OFDM system is explained. According to the project requirement,three optional project are designed and compared. Then the configuration of OFDM system as well as the function of the parts is showed.In Chapter 4, the specific realization of the OFDM system based on DSP technology is explained. In the first part, the system hardware is described in detail. Then the software that is used to realize modulation in the system sender and multi-way model is elaborated. In the end, the software of realizing demodulation in system receiver, which is based on DSP technology, is emphasized particularly in this project.In Chapter 5, the debugging and the result are given. The difficulties encountered in the realization of this system is proposed. Then capability of this developed OFDM system in this project is further analyzed and relative improvements are discussion. Chapter 6 is a conclusion of this project.
