Recently, mobile communication has been developing rapidly in the world. With the commercial deployment of 3rd generation mobile communication system, it still cannot meet the increasing needs of the mobile users in the future. The concept of next-generation wireless communication system is put forward for supportting transmission of mobile multimedia services with high-speed high-performance which can't be provided by 3G system. Funded by 863-FuTURE Project, NCRL (National Communication Research Laboratory) of Southeast University is carrying out researches on MIMO-GMC (Multiple Input Multiple Output-Generalized Multi-Carrier) cellular mobile communication transmission technique, aiming at fulfilling high efficient packet data transmission with peak data rate no less than 100 Mbps. This thesis consists of three parts: performance simulation of MIMO-GMC, study of Turbo-RS concatenated code, and FGPA implementation of RS encoder and decoder.Firstly, MIMO-GMC physical layer algorithms are studied, then simulation for single carrier and multi-carrier are designed in C, which evaluated the performance of the radio link under different moving speeds and channels environment. Then, the encoding and decoding technology adotped in the MIMO-GMC system are investigated including the Turbo-RS concatenated codes which use RS code as the outer code and the Turbo code as the inner code. The encoding and decoding algorithms of these two codes, especially the different decoding algorithms of RS code, and concatenated code are discussed in detail. The delay, performance, of Turbo-RS code with whole iteration and the performance of concatenated code used in MIMO-GMC system are performed. Finally, hardware implementation of the RS encoder and decoder is presented. Due to employing of a new Galois fied multiplier, the complexity of a MEA-based RS decoder is drastically reduced. Experiments show that the decoder can work the way it should be.
