The production of special-steel enterprise shows a tendency of multi-variety and small-batch. Because of the complexity of the production process, production planning becomes more difficult. The information system which is running in Dalian Jinniu Co., Ltd. of Dongbei Special-Steel Group, aids production planning by computers, and makes the contract, process, standard, plan, material and quality information integrated and shareable. In order to help the production administrator to acquire guiding information more conveniently when making production plans, a new requirement is put forward: Based on the original functions of the system, graphic technology is needed to aid the simulation of production plans.According to the requirement and features of the special-steel enterprise, in this paper, some theories related to the production management are studied, and a solution is put forward: Under the MRP II /JIT integrated production planning mode, the production planning management system needs an optimization design. In the solution, the production planning is aided by production plan simulation function, and the decision-making of the production is supported by production data statistic function. During the process of systemic analysis and optimization design, the original system is fully analyzed. With the help of UML, the function model and the information model are established. After that, the extended modules and their integration with the original modules are designed. According to abundant studies on the key technologies, such as data collection-transformation and graphic simulation based on B/S mode, the function of the system is extended, while the optimization modules are implemented successfully.The optimized production planning management system of the special-steel enterprise is closer to the practical requirement of the production planning management, which makes the production plan more scientific and reasonable, and makes the production data efficiently used. The interfaces of the system are friendly as the data in tables have been converted to simple and visual graphics with the help of Web-based graphic display. The works above support the production management and decision-making so much, and enhance the level of production planning management and the competitiveness of the enterprise.
