The detection device to carry on the detecting of harmful gas and odor in daily life and industry measurement has big practical value. The thesis has developed two sorts of detection device, one is for indoor gas detection to monitor the indoor air quality and the other is for filmed aluminum plate odor detection to classify the quality of filmed aluminum plate.The detection device for monitoring the indoor air quality is designed to measure formaldehyde, toluene, ammonia, VOC, methane and carbon monoxide. Two detection devices used in different environments were developed, one is used in the building decorated and the other is used in daily life to monitoring the air quality. Both the detection devices are mainly composed of eight modules, i.e. Gas Sensors, Power Supply Circuit, Temperature and Humidity (TAH) Sensor, Timer, MCU, LCD, EEPROM, and Serial Interface. All sensors' responses are acquired through an A/D converter, and the MSP430F149-type 16 bits MCU is adopted as controller and calculator. The gas concentration are analyzed by MSP430F149 then displayed on the screen real-time. While the detected gas concentrations are over the warning level, light and beep alarm signals will be generated. The device can detect other gas conveniently by replacing the corresponding sensors.The device used for classifying the quality of aluminum plate is mainly composed by gas sensor array, data acquisition card and system software .The analog output signals of the gas sensor array are converted to digital signals by data acquisition card. Digital signals are then processed, displayed and stored by system software. Finally, the detection device can classify the quality of aluminum plate on the base of the sample aluminum plate.
