Nowadays with the development and popularity of the multi-media technology and the internet, by means of computer, the language teachers and students are exploring and using more resources than ever before. It has become a trend. Simultaneously, a lot of studies and researches in this field have been done while some others on the agenda. Language testing plays an important role in language learning. In the traditional way of language testing, testees form their concepts and make judgements and do reasoning by reading words and numbers or sometimes by watching still pictures. However, in computer-assisted language testing(CALT), they will finish the similar mental work in a different way of perception. Virtually, some scenes in our daily life can be presented vividly to testees. What kind of skills and abilities language tests are going to test depends on the characteristics of a language itself. Usually reliability and validity will be used to assure the quality of different kinds of tests. The thesis belongs to a trial research and focuses on a specific field--visualized English listening testing. Some relative theories and thoughts of language testing and system design will be introduced and the features of multi-media technology and its potentials will be listed and analysized. In conclusion, practicability will be verified with the help of SPSS, a statistical software, based on the evidences of an experiment.
