The performance evaluations of the database server were almost controlled by the server company. What the performance metrics are established not for the consumer's practical requirements but for the competition with other companies. This dissertation proposes a customer-oriented performance evaluation system of OLTP server. The system is based on the requirement of the customers. The performance evaluation system of the application server mainly consists of three parts: the definition of Load, the design of testing system, the performance tuning of system. The main contributions of this dissertation are listed as below.First, the load of the OLTP performance evaluation system is defined. The dissertation proposes that the load of the database server testing system should be defined based on the analysis of system-level, transaction-level and the denotation-level. In the second chapter, the OLTP testing system is defined from three levels based on the TPCC load.Second, a customer-oriented OLTP server testing system is realized. The research is supported by the ICT innovation Project"ServerScope: Instrument for Performance Evaluation of Super-Server". The ServerScope is a set of customer-oriented testing system which is designed based on the customer's practical performance requirement. The OLTP testing system is realized in the ServerScope. The third chapter will introduce the main idea, the design methods and the characteristics. Finally, the performance tuning methods of the database server based on applications are presented. The target of the users is not the test but finding the problems and performance tuning based on the problems. The fourth chapter studied the tuning methods of the OLTP test on Dawning node extensively. The performance tuning methods based on applications are proposed. One of the performance metrics tpmC can reach 2.74 times of the performance before tuning.
