| Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) is a kind of high-resolution imaging system. It has many advantages including all-weather all-day work. In very poor visibility condition, SAR can acquire high-resolution images working similarly to optical camera. These advantages enable SAR to extensive usage in geological exploration, land monitoring, military reconnaissance, and other fields. They also make SAR image processing and research become a hot topic in signal processing.The aim of target detection in SAR imagery is at checking out useful objects from noisy backgrounds. Target detection impacts target feature extraction and the precision of target identification and classification. Via the analysis of characteristics of SAR imagery targets, this paper mainly focuses on typical target detection in SAR imagery.Through major research on the commonly used mean-level CFAR detector, a Ring Window Variability Index CFAR detector is proposed. Such CFAR detector integrates the advantages of previous CFAR detector, and restrains their shortcomings. It provides a good detection performance in a homogeneous and non-homogeneous environments.Ship detection is one of the typical target detections in SAR image. |
