During the design of modern radar system, computer modeling and simulation are becoming increasingly important. The main purpose of this paper is to summarize radar clutter models and generate various kinds of clutter for simulation system. Better simulation methods are also discussed. The works of this paper can be summarized as follows:1. Introduce a commonly used method for clutter description: As the radar clutter can be classify as a Wide-sense Stationary Random Process(WSRP), it can be defined by its correlation function and one-dimension Probability Distribution Function(PDF). While the correlation function and the Power Spectrum Density(PSD) are mutual FFT pairs. So radar clutter simulation is equal to the simulation of random process of certain Probability Distribution Function(PDF) and Power Spectrum Density(PSD). Four commonly used amplitude distribution models: Rayleigh, LogNormal, Weibull and K distribution and three power spectrum models: Gaussian, Cauchy and AllPole are introduced in this paper.2. The processes of simulation for each clutter are presented. The difficulties between ZMNL and SIRP are compared in the LogNormal and Weibull clutters simulation. According to this project, proper method is used to the simulation of different clutters.3. Introduce the way to wrap the MATLAB m-language functions to Simulink models. According to the needs of this project, clutter models with four types of PDF and three types of PSD are wrapped into Simulink models to be called in this project. Curves of PDF and PSD between the theoretical and the actual are compared to verify the models we present.
