Simulation of clutter is an important function of radar simulator, deepening theresearch and simulation of clutter, not only helps to improve the detection and tracking theperformance of radar, but also helps to test and evaluate a variety of radar simulationsystem. Combined with the project background and the application demand, research theprinciple and realization method of random number generator based on FPGA, and providethe basis for the research of follow-up radar simulator.This paper focuses on statistical modeling and simulation of clutter and cluttergeneration based on FPGA platform. It mainly includes the following aspects:The first part indicates the background and significance of the research, describes thecurrent situation and development trend of domestic and foreign research in two aspects:modeling and simulation, and summarizes the main work.The second section begins by describing the commonly used empirical models of land,sea and weather clutter, and the significance of scattering coefficients. Then, the paperdescribes the characteristics of statistical models, including the distribution ofamplitude-frequency, the impact of shape parameters on amplitude distribution and thescope of the model. Finally, the paper compares the pros and cons of three common cluttersimulation methods.The third part introduces the demand and the overall design of the algorithm, followedby introduction of the generation principle of uniform random sequences, Gaussian whitenoise, Gaussian colored noise and each distribution clutter. Among them, elaborate thedesign of improved Tausworthe sequencer and the Gaussian spectrum filter. The cluttersequence is finally modulated, including distance modulation, Doppler modulation,amplitude modulation, the equivalent scattering area modulation, to generate the actualclutter; the actual ground, sea and weather clutter is simulated, detected and analyzed.The fourth part describes the environment of software and test of the cluttersimulation based on FPGA; it proposes three technical difficulties during the algorithmtransplant and comes up solutions; Test and analysis the simulation data for each clutter models and the results have been more satisficing. At last, summarize the article andpresents the research results and prospects.
