With the popularity of online trading, large numbers of e-commerce services have been emerged. The emergence and development of e-commerce brings great changes and profound influences to every aspect of the social and economical life. In essence, e-commerce is the electronization, informationalization and automation of the realization of commerce activities.In order to resolve the conflicts and disputations in commerce activities, negotiation is used in most cases to come to an agreement. Traditional negotiation is usually conducted face to face by the buyers and sellers, which will surely waste lots of manpower and materials, even be influenced by the human factors to bring some unfairness and randomicity. Automated negotiations can resolve such problems to a great extent.Currently, the research of Agent-based e-commerce has been a hot topic. The software Agent technology is considered as one of the most useful technologies in online commerce. Especially, its autonomy, interaction and intelligence can effectively meet the needs of flexibility in tradings. However, current e-commerce systems still have done little to support the commercial automation, especially in such field of decision-making of automated trading as automated negotiation.In real life, the multi-lateral negotiation with multi-attribute happens frequently. In most cases, the e-commerce automated negotiation involves lots of Agents representing buyers and sellers, that is to say, the automated multi-lateral negotiation in practical term. The rapid development of e-commerce will certainly need the automation of electronic negotiation process, especially the multi-lateral negotiation.The major contributions of this dissertation are as follows:1.
