As a high technology production, LED(Light Emitting Diode) display screen attracts more and more people in recent years. With the LED display screen widely used in many fields, there exposed some new problems in the application: one computer can only control a LED display screen, etc. In this paper, a method is proposed which can control the low cost LED display screen without computer and the integrity feasible project is showed in details. We propose a low cost LED control system which can work without computer, and a integrated and feasible solution of hardware design is given hereIn the first two chapters, principally, introduce the background and current research progress of the LED display screen. Subsequently, introduce the LED component correlation elementary knowledge and the principle and framework of LED display system. In view of the present problems on the LED screen, a improvement solution based on DSP (Digital Signal Process) and FPGA (Field-Programmable Gate Array) technology is given here.Then author takes part the overall system hardware design into chapter 3 and 4: the LED panel driven circuit and the host control system. In the chapter 3, analyze modulation method in the beginning, and introduce concrete LED driven circuit. In the chapter 4, firstly, we introduce the features, the developing methods and the developing procedure of DSP and FPGA. After all, all units of the TMS320LF2407_based host control system including power supply circuit, SCI (Serial Communication Interface ) module, flash memory interface, character fonts module and exterior memory module are elaborated in designing principles, designing methods and hardware circuit aspects. Meanwhile, it is illustrated that how to design the system sequence circuit based on ALTERA EP1K30Q208-3.Finally, we sum up some experiences of the hardware debugs and come up with the further improvement suggestion. The LED control system works well after software and hardware debugging.
