With the rapid development of high technology in information age, people are more and more eager to obtain all kinds of information and display them in time. Therefore it brings the rapid development of information technology .LED display screen is widely used in the large area display with its advantages of high brightness, can be spliced, low power consumption. But the current LED display system has some disadvantages. For example, the running speed, addressing capacity and power consumption of the 16 Bit microcontroller is can't meet with the number of data processing system. And the medium-small scale integrated circuit also can't be satisfied with the large display area and the switched frequently display data. And when the display screen is far away from the controller, it will have the problem of the data transmitting timely.According to these problems, a kind of large LED screen display control system is designed. GPRS is used in this system as communication line to update the memory data wirelessly for the problem of data transmitting timely. High performance 32-bit ARM9 microprocessor is used as the core control to receive the data from GPRS .Then convert it to the data that can support the LED screen display and generate the control signals to FPGA. FPGA technology is used to do further switch and process with the display data. Then the data can really be support with the LED display screen.This article proposed development trend of system first , and then introduces embedded system and programmable logic devices FPGA. After analyzing scan principle of the LED display screen, it confirms the scan method which 16 rows are a group, dynamic scan by row and serial input line data. Based on GSM + ARM + FPGA the whole system scheme of the LED large screen display system is presented. This article focuses on hardware design and software design. After the main function of each module is analyzed, it presents the related hardware circuit of ARM and FPGA. In software design, the start code and related application code is presented. And then put forward the FPGA's internal functional structure diagram. The program flow chart of each sub-module is proposed. At last, the whole article is summarized and prospected.
