Recent advances in sensor technology, low-power electronics, and low-power radio frequency design have enabled the development of inexpensive and low-power wireless sensors that can be connected via a wireless network. Wireless Sensor network can be applied in many areas such as military affairs, commerce, medical care, environmental monitoring, and becomes a new research focus of computer science and technology. Due to its specialty wireless sensor network can not implement existing wireless routing protocols, and design of application-oriented routing protocols is the research gravity of the network-layer.In this paper, the issues of the routing protocols of wireless sensor network are discussed. Some routing protocols of wireless sensor network whose applications are restricted or systems are not energy-efficient thus lifetime is short are analyzed. To achieve better system performance the author presents a new protocol-Large scale Low energy sensor Network protocol (LLP).In LLP, nodes are organized into clusters. Sensed data which is compressed and fused by each cluster head is sent to base station through several sensor nodes. LLP includes a new distributed cluster formation technique that enables self-organization of large numbers of nodes, algorithms for adapting clusters and rotating cluster head positions to evenly distribute the energy load among all the nodes, and techniques to communicate information by the lowest energy routes.
