The research topic of real-time cooperative editing system, which is one of the classic applications of CSCW, is greatly emphasized in recent years. This paper introduces an enhanced real-time cooperative editing algorithm and gives the design and implementation of GOT3 in a real cooperative editing system, Z-Office.The recent research status of cooperative editing algorithms, such as GOT, dOPT, adOPT, SOCK2, SOCK3, SOCK4 and so on, are studied in this paper. And the experimental prototype systems in resent years are also discussed. Then, according to the real application demands, GOT3 enhances several points such as context-consistency, focus-maintenance and HistoryBuffer-Cleaning. The detailed design and implementation of cooperative engine in Z-Office are described. Finally, the functional demonstration and test result of cooperative editing module are presented.This paper analyzes some key issues of cooperative editing system. And a concurrency control algorithm in a cooperative editing is introduced, which provides the stable and effective support for the cooperative editing system. It enhances flexibility, practicality and compatibility of the original cooperative editing system.
