The Unbalance Of The Functions Of The Chinese TV Media And The Countermeasures

The functions of the mass media are an important district of the communication. Along with the development of the mass media, the studies which the harbingers of the communication have made are more and more deliberate. The TV media, an important component of the mass media, has five main functions---the communication of messages, the guide of public opinions, the teaching of knowledge, the entertainment and the advertisement. However, when the writer analyses the program of central,provincial and municipal TV media, it's found that the entertainment programs, such as teleplays and films, and advertisements have occupied the overall majority, while educational programs are fewer. The situation which is more serious is that the news program and the special programs also become fabricated and interesting. Therefore, the TV media becomes an entertainment media, and the functions of it are seriously unbalanced. There are two reasons of the unbalance, the first one is the excessive dependence on the advertisement, and the second one which is more important is the limit of the system of the media. Two countermeasures should be taken, that is to say, the TV media which belongs to the government disunites as its nature, and the TV media which belongs to the education department becomes public.
