This dissertation is devoted to the research on automatic scoring system for shooting games , which is one of the applications of digital image processing . The color images we acquired are taken from the fixed CCD camera . We capture the image data into computer memory by controlling Daheng CG300 video capture . We take such stages as preprocessing of images, classification of characteristics and character recognition to get the results of shooting shown in the target images . This dissertation overviews a few methods of the realization of automatic scoring system . It analyzes and compares some common algorithms of image processing used in those systems . A method of image recognition which is based on Hough transform and the geometric characteristics of ellipses or circles is presented in this dissertation . By using this method , the automatic scoring system succeeds to eliminate the detecting error caused by the distortion of target images . The whole system meets the requirements of precision and real-time . In addition , it lays a good foundation for the further research of real-time image processing system .
