Fingerprint identification is one of the most successful applications of biology identification technology and has developed quickly in recent years. By now, Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) has been applied in hundreds of police departments. It manages millions of information and improves efficiency of cracking criminal cases greatly. Fingerprint identification technology has an obvious broad foreground, modern ones can login in, pick out features automatically, save data, long-distance control, query automatically, statistic, print reports, etc, and manage stored data scientifically.Though there has been important improvement in research and development of fingerprint identification, it is not so popular now as its identification veracity and velocity can't satisfy requirement of most applications. Therefore, it is important to improve the performance of fingerprint identification, not only in theory but also in application. The dissertation researches the theory, characters, key problems and algorithms of fingerprint identification in detail, concludes and compares existed algorithms; then discusses deeply on genetic algorithm including basic conception, theory, key problem and realization technology; finally designs a complete scheme to realize its application in fingerprint identification and does simulation using MATLAB.The scheme adopts "point match" in pattern identification, of which one point set is from input fingerprint while the other from standard fingerprint stored in template storage. Make the two sets match better...
