The Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) is a very complex system. Thus, in the fault diagnosis process, its required data is very big and these data's management is difficult, including the real-time original data from every system, the system operation initialization data, the result of data processing and the result of fault diagnosis and so on. The management of these data is very important to improve the efficiency and the accuracy of the fault diagnosis. Put forward making use of the database technique to manage the NPP's information. By this, managers can know all the information of the NPP and managers can find out problem early to solve the problem by inquiring the information which is benefit for the safety operation of the NPP.This thesis mainly studies the character information of the primary fault, which is at the second loop system of the NPP. Also it studies the application of the technology of database in the fault diagnosis and the operation manages of the nuclear power plant, and explores the application of database system.First, to the specialty of the NPP's fault diagnosis, this paper collects abnormity signal character signal of the main fault of every system of the second loop system. It is very important to the development of the database system.Second, bring forward using database system in the NPP. Design the concept structure, logic structure, physics structure, function module and the manage interface of program of the database system. In designing process, to meet the requirement of fault diagnosis and monitor by optimizing database system gradually. The exploitation of database system can be divided to two components: the exploitation of the manage interface as a forehand and the exploitation of the database as a background support. The forehand is exploited by Visual Basic 6.0 and the background is exploited by SQL Server 2000.
