The laser digital image communication is one of the way in which the information is transmitted on the channel of space with the laser beam . This kind of communication way has the characteristics of heavy capacity, strong anti-interference, high dependability, high security. Therefore, the laser digital image communication is applied prospectly in the field of military, national defence , civil aspect.The paper has deeply research on the basic theory of image compression and coding , atmosphere absorption, atmosphere scattering , atmospheric turbulence and back light which have great influence on image transmission quality on the basis of overall design of the laser digital image communication . The paper has carried on a more thorough study on the video signal compression and coding. Meanwhile the application to datum transmission is deeply studied. The paper designs hardware circuit based on MPEG-2 standard and datum reapplication. In the end the experimental result is offered.
