Shanghai TV Station broadcasted a program named Law andMorality, the first law program in China, on May 22, 1985. Sincethen, law program has developed rapidly and has played animportant role in various TV programs all over the China. On May17, 1999, Political and Law Channel was launched by ChangshaTV Station, who firstly opened a TV channel specializing in lawprogram in China, followed by some other TV Stations. CCTVbegan operating the Society and Law Channel routinely at 12o'clock on 12th December, 2004, which attracted prevalentattention.Law program's performance in market arose the attention ofscholars, who have got fruitful law-program-related outcome,including its production, plan, deep mine and management, theproduce morass it faces and its breach, and increase of legalconscious and humanity care and etc. However, there are noneresearches on its competitive strategy on the side of TV Stations.Now it is buyer's market era, audience has more and morealternative choices, competition among TV Stations and TVprograms become more and more sever. Therefore, in order to gainaudience's favor, law program itself must innovate and evolve, andTV Stations need establish competitive strategy for it. Then, lawprogram is able to win the market and gain grow and perfection.To frame its competitive strategy, the law program's actualityand competition pattern are basis and needed to be understoodclearly. This thesis consists of six chapters, including thedevelopment of law program in China and its growth features, theactuality of law program in all level TV Stations in China, thecompetition pattern of law program in China, the competitivestrategy of law program in China, the specialization way of lawchannel in China, and the reference for law program in China fromforeign law program and the breakthrough for it.There are mature treatises on the development of law programin China, so this dissertation uses them for reference andsummarizes the evolution traits. Then, on the basis of huge sourcematerials and the necessary rearrangement and analysis for it, thispaper cards the actuality of law program in all level TV Stations inChina, depicts its competition pattern, then lodges its competitivestrategy, probes into the specialization of law channel, and finallyintroduces some foreign law programs and points out its breachdirection. The thesis brings the relevant knowledge of Statistics,Marketing and Management to bear, which is the inauguration part,hopefully be contributive to the development and perfection of lawprogram in China.The dissertation involves much data and audience rating is oneof the key data. Unfortunately, neither ACNielsen nor CSM hassupplied the whole audience rating data of law program. And theaudience rating data of law program which is cited in this paper wasfound out from other audience rating data and then rearranged, andso the data is specific and separate. That's why this thesis is notthorough enough, which is its one weakness.
