The modern hotel collects the guest room , food and beverage , communication , amusement, commercial culture and other various kinds of services and facilities and they are integrated consumption place, the hotel organizes hugely, there are many service items, the amount of information is large, if you want to improve labor produce , reduce costs , improve the service quality and management level, promote the economic benefits, you must carry on the modernized information management through the computer. 《Hotel Management Information System》 is just designed for the occasion.it is developed and carried out by using Microsoft SQL Server 2000 database systemand powerbuilder programming language, it include nine modules--bookingmanagement subsystem, foreground reception subsystem, foreground checking out subsystem,housekeeping subsystem, telephone charging administration subsystem,accouting subsystem,reporting subsystem and system maintainacesubsystem. it has many features--simple operation,friendly interface,goodflexibility,high system safety,stable performance.This paper has introduced the project background and meaning of 《Hotel Management Information System》 briefly, and fucus on the procedure of the system design , such as systematic demand analysis , scheme demonstration, module design , database design, etc. Especially this paper focus on key technique of the system, such as database access of powerbuider,serial communication by microsoft mscomm.ocx.The system uses client/server architecture, and it stores all kind of hotel management information in a center sql server database.
