With the rapid development of communication and computer techniques, there are a great deal of new network services coming into being. The needs of service management become more and more intensive. Service management can improve the ISP management level and guarantee the customer service quality. In the recent years, it has become a hot research topic in the network management field. In this thesis, I will concentrate on the problem about how to implement network service management in the distributed environment. Our research work can be divided into two main aspects: Architecture and key techniques.First, we explain the fundamentals of network management and its current status. Then we describe several typical network management reference models (Such as OSI/CMIP, Internet/SNMP, etc), which have gotten widely used in the network management field. In the below is the introduction about service management, which include its main characteristics, management object and some difficult obstacles in the aspects of architecture and key techniques. The above problems will be discussed detailedly in the following chapters. In the aspect of architecture, we propose a new network management model based on services cloud, which manages the network and services by means of plenty of management services. During the implementation, we deploy plenty of management middleware on many geographical distributed servers across the network to form a management service cloud. Through the collaboration of these services, the network itself can provide support for network management. Normally, the management applications can invoke the corresponding management services to satisfy their requirements of network or service management. Management service cloud looks like a middle layer, which make the complexity of underlying heterogeneous networks transparent to the up-level applications. The management applications invoke these services to accomplish management tasks, without interaction with agents directly. In the way, we can achieve the management of complex objects, such as kinds of network services. In the aspect of key technologies, we propose a mobile agent-based network service model generation method. The generation of the service dependency model between service components in network environment has become increasingly important in improving network management level. By dependency model, it is easy to determine problems and monitor QOS. This paper discusses several methods in this field, the advantages and disadvantages of active/passive approach. Last we propose a...
