With the recent advance in wireless technologies, short-range wireless transmission gradually becomes a new trend, and provides users with more convenient services. One renowned example will be the standardization of Bluetooth specification that provides previously standalone devices the network services. As the latest revision of Bluetooth specification version 1.1 in December of 2000, the compliant products are expected to rapidly fill the market.In this dissertation, we will bring forward the Bluetooth solutions of chips or modules, based on author's understand and research work of the Bluetooth Protocol Architecture, which provides the short-range wireless transmission solutions for users of portable computers. The solutions include hardware design, firmware design and drivers' design.In the solution of chips, author proposes utilizing TR0750 Bluetooth chip, the production of Transilica, which can manage the whole course of radio frequency. The hardware design carry on corresponding peripheral circuit design, including the part of power, the interface changes and the radio.Because of the support of Transilica, there is not solution of offering the chips and software. So, we determine to try another kind of Bluetooth solution, the grade of the modules. We plan to adopt the Bluetooth module of Ericsson. This module links to each other through one RS232 interface with HOST. When power on or received corresponding AT commands, it can set up ACL and SCO connection with specific Bluetooth equipments automatically. Then Host can control the communication of data, voice, or simultaneous voice and data between two Bluetooth devices.Hardware designs mainly include MCU, expand UART, ERICSSON ROK 101 008 interface, CODEC and speech process, etc. Software offers the AT commands interface for upper and processes HCI commands operation and return events for lower.In addition, this dissertation describes the Bluetooth network construction and the Bluetooth Route System. Based on the latest Bluetooth Specification, BRS improves it and provides reliable links, which decreases the period of roaming and switch of Bluetooth mobile terminals greatly, and breaks through the limitation of 10 meters transmission. With flexibility and expansibility, routings between BRSs and between BRS and LAN/WAN can be implemented.
